摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of accurately detecting the liquid level inside a high pressure container, where the liquid surface often wavingly fluctuates, at a low cost. SOLUTION: To a pressure accumulator 1 which is a thick high pressure container of a large diameter made of steel, the thin communication pipe 2 of a small diameter made of steel similarly to the pressure accumulator 1 is attached. In the case of attaching the communication pipe 2 in such a manner, the liquid surface inside the communication pipe 2 becomes the same as a liquid surface level inside the pressure accumulator 1. Then, to the communication pipe 2, probes 3 are mounted to two parts in the axial length direction, that are positions corresponding to the upper limit level HL and lower limit level LL to be managed of liquid 1a (water or oil to put it concretely) vertically fluctuating inside the pressure accumulator 1. The probes 3 are connected through a switching device 4 to an ultrasonic wave oscillator 5 and a display device 6 (cathode-ray tube), an while ultrasonic waves oscillated from the ultrasonic wave oscillator 5 are originated and made incident perpendicularly to the pipe axial center of the communication pipe 2, the reflection signals are received and outputted to the display device 6.
