PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PWM(pulse width modulated) power converter operable continuously when power supply or a load varies, and operable with a sufficiently higher efficiency as well by reducing losses to be generated by switching elements. SOLUTION: A control command signal CTR outputted from a load condition detecting circuit 28 is supplied to a logic circuit 24, and supply of firing commands 12a-12f to switching elements 2a-2f is prevented, when the magnitude of a DC current between a converter section 2 and an inverter section 4 is less than a specified value. Here, the switching elements 2a-2f are PWM- controlled, only when it is the specified value or more. |
