<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optimum motion vector, without considerable enlargement of the circuit scale. SOLUTION: Motion vectors Vy, Vc each for luminance and color difference components and evaluation values Eyy and Ecc are obtained (steps 31, 34), and the both evaluation values Eyc and Ecy for the color difference and luminance components are calculated respectively (steps 32, 35) to obtain overall evaluation values Ey(Eyy+Eyc) and Ec(Ecc+Ecy) for the both color difference and luminance components (steps 33, 36). Then the overall evaluation values Ey and Ec for both the color difference and luminance components are compared. In the case of Ey<Ec, the Vy is used for a motion vector, and in the case of Ey>Ec on the other hand, the Vc is used as a motion vector (step 37).</p> |
