<p>A method of suppressing error propagation in a system using the MDFE method and a recording/reproducing apparatus using the method. In a method of suppressing error propagation in multilevel judgment feedback equalization of feeding back the output of a detector to the input side via a feedback filter and inputting the difference between the input signal and the feedback signal to the detector in the system using the MDFE method, the error propagation state is judged based on the output of the detector. On the basis of the result of the error propagation detection, a predetermined offset is given to the slice level of the detector and a DC offset is given to the DC level of the input signal of the detector, or the sign of the tap of the feedback filter is inverted.</p> |
