The spring element is formed as a multi-tube spring with at least two concentric tubes (4,6). At least two of the tubes define at least two volume areas (22,24) which communicate with each other by a control device (20). The control unit can be formed by an axial and/or helical control slit and/or a ring channel. An overflow bore opens from the ring channel into the second volume area. The bore is sealed by a sealing ring in the second volume area when the piston rod is not pushed in.
