PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the relative distance of an ultrasonic wave probe to a patient body without a special sensor by obtaining the scanning direction displacement of a target based on scanning line signals obtained by a transmission/ reception means and obtaining the scanning direction relative moving distance of the target and the ultrasonic wave probe. SOLUTION: When, which one of the ultrasonic wave probes 20 connected to a main body part 10 is to be used, is instructed, the instruction is transmitted to a transmission/reception part 201. Thus, high voltage pulses are transmitted to the instructed ultrasonic wave probe 20 and ultrasonic waves are transmitted and received. Reception ultrasonic wave beams are formed from the reception signals and sent to an arithmetic part 205. The arithmetic part 205 obtains the relative distance of the testee body 1 and the ultrasonic wave probe 20 between frames or a moving distance in a depth direction or both based on them. Thus, a relative two-dimensional position is obtained without the need of an external sensor or the like. |
