TREATMENT OF SELENIUM-CONTAINING SOLUTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of efficiently lowering the selenium concentration in waste water in a short time by efficiently treating a discharge water incorporating selenium and inorganic acid salt of a compound such as alkali sulfate and boric compound, showing a buffer action in the neutral vicinity by a simple treating operation. SOLUTION: When the solution incorporating selenium and another metallic inorganic acid salt is passed through a packed layer of iron series metal and selenium is deposited on the surface of the iron series metal, the solution is brought into contact with the iron series metal at >30 deg. and preferably in a range of pH3-7, and in some case, a compound showing a buffer action in the neural vicinity of the discharge water is removed before the contact with the iron series metal, thus the treatment method of the selenium-containing solution can be obtained.
