PURPOSE:To obtain a water-based polyolefin composition useful as a primer for coating by adding water under pressure to effect the phase transition and conversion to a water-based system, thereby suppressing the increase of the viscosity of reaction liquid, increasing the stirring efficiency, improving the yield and aging stability and suppressing the formation of large-sized agglomerate. CONSTITUTION:A polyolefin and/or modified polyolefin are converted to an aqueous system by melting a raw material resin under an absolute pressure of 1.1-101kg/cm<2>, mixing with a basic substance and a surfactant and/or an alcohol, slowly dropping water to the mixture while stirring under the above pressure to cause phase-transition and converting the system to an aqueous system in the presence of the resin component, liquid water and other component at 100-300 deg.C. The polyolefin to be used in the process is preferably a polymer having a polyalkylene oxide structure such as polyoxyalkylene diol of the formula I (E is CH2CH2; P is group of the formula II; (n) and (m) are 0-100; 4<=m+n<=<100). |
