The UV lamp (12) is contained in the casing of a sanitary fitting, the outlet opening being formed by an aerator (14). The lamp extends sufficiently into the end of the casing (2, 4) that it irradiates the aerator from within. Preferred features: Internal components (30a-30c) of the aerator comprise UV-transparent or -transmitting material. The outer layer (30a-30d) of these components is opaque to UVC. These components are transparent to UVA and UVB but not to UVC. They are coated with TiO2.
