The measuring appliance (1) contains a measuring system (2) and an indicating unit (3), which are arranged in a casing. The measurement result is dependent of a measuring place (8). The indicating system indicates the measurement result at least qualitatively at or in the vicinity of the measurement place, independent of the appliance casing. An Independent claim is given for a display method for the appliance.
