Data transmission system with mobile transponder and base station

The data transmission system includes a mobile transponder which comprises an antenna input and a modulator. There is also a base station which contains a demodulator and sends a carrier frequency signal to the transponder. The modulator of the transponder superimposes a pulse signal on the received carrier frequency signal, which is switched to the antenna input, and is modulated according to the information to be transferred to the base station. The transponder contains preferably a clock generator, which receives the carrier frequency signal, generates the pulse signal supplied to the modulator in response. The transponder comprises a delay circuit with a, preferably adjustable, delay time, which is connected between the clock generator and the modulator.
