The invention concerns a process for the manufacture of detergent compositions which contain a UV absorber. The process comprises the steps of forming a premix of the UV absorber and one or more semipolar solvents and combining this premix with the remaining components of the detergent composition which includes at least one surfactant. The semipolar solvents comprise preferably glycol ethers and/or alkanols. The process is particularly suitable for preparing hard surface and window cleaning compositions containing a UV absorber to provide protection of the cleaned surface or items behind the cleaned window against damage by UV light.
