PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acoustic thermometer for gas which can measure the temperature of a gas without making such a large-scale remodeling that a siphon is bent even when the propagate distance is long or the noise in a furnace is loud. SOLUTION: In an acoustic thermometer which utilizes the fact that the velocity of sounds propagated through a gas varies with the temperature of the gas, a sound source 103 which continuously produces sounds, two or more acoustic receivers 4-l and 4-2 which are set up at different distances from the sound source 103, storage devices which respectively store the signals received by means of the receivers 40-l and 4-2, a time difference computing element 15 which calculates the time difference between the sounds arriving at the receivers 4-l and 4-2 from the sound source 103, and a temperature computing element 16 which calculates the temperature of the gas between the receivers 41 and 4-2 from the time difference are provided. The sound source 103 produces the sounds by emitting a compressed gas from the opened holes of a pressurized vapor pipeline 103. |
