PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for monitoring the matching of an image to be printed by a multi-station printer by printing the required smallest number of matching marks. SOLUTION: The first and the second pattern 112, 116 of matching marks disposed at an interval are printed on a base by the operation of a printing station. The second pattern 116 is partially superposed on the first pattern 112 to form the combined pattern 120 of the matching marks. The combined pattern 120 is irradiated and its reflection is measured by plural wavelengths representing complementary colors for the first and the second pattern 112, 116 in order to acquire reflection signals (SM) relative to the combined pattern 120. The reflection signals (SM) of the combined pattern 120 are compared to a preset signal (SO) to decide adjustment factors (fm, fc, fy) for a printer. |
