摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device capable of excluding the mechanical friction applied to a non-image section on a photoreceptor surface, and preventing the image fault, at the photoreceptor surface cleaning time. SOLUTION: This device is provided with left and right tractors for setting a successive paper sheet 1 a position detecting sensor for detecting the position, a control circuit 5 for predetermining the driving time corresponding to the paper sheet width in receiving the paper sheet width information, the blade 7 for scrape down the residual toner 14, a holder guide 10, the blade holder 17 capable of shifting in the blade shifting direction on the holder guide in a state of holding the blade, driving means letting the blade holder driven by the controlling circuit for predetermining the driving time corresponding to the paper sheet width, and a tension spring for imparting the tension with respect to the holder guide letting the blade maintaining the press contact force with respect to the photoreceptor. The cleaning effective width of the blade with respect to the photoreceptor surface is changed, in matching with the paper sheet width to be used. Thus, with respect to the photoreceptor surface outside the image forming area, the mechanical friction by the blade is restrained from the impression, therefore the wear of the electric charge carrier layer on the photoreceptor surface can be prevented.
