PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ultraviolet absorber suitable for protection for a long period by incorporating solid compound particles containing atomic silicon and/or containing stoichiometrically excess silicon atoms and having a specified average diameter. SOLUTION: A photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer and at need, at least one of non-photosensitive layers arranged nearer to a light source than the emulsion layer contain the solid compound particles containing atomic silicon and/or stoichiometrically excess silicon atoms and having an average particle diameter of <=120 nm. The atomic silicon is an amorphous or crystalline silicon and, preferably, the crystalline form. The preferable particle diameter of the silicon particle is 1-120 nm, especially, 1-70 nm. The compound containing the stoichiometrically excess silicon atoms, preferably, comprises a compound of the formula: Six Z1-x in which x>0.5, preferably, >0.7, and Z is an atom selected from C, N, O, Ge, Ca, Ba, and Sr, preferably, C or Ge.
