A METHOD OF CORRECTING THE POSITION OF A TRACK

In a method of correcting the position of a track (2) which is composed of laterally adjacent track sections (3,4) connected by a branch track (5), the track sections are respectively surveyed by means of an absolute reference system (17) common to both sections, whereby actual position curves are formed and the high points thereof are registered. A common desired position curve is then created for the surveyed track sections by connecting the said high points by design sections smoothening the trace of the curve. By forming the difference between desired- and actual position curves, track correction values are determined, according to which the track position correction is implemented while synchronously lifting or laterally displacing the two track sections.
