CARBON FIBERS AND PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF
摘要
Carbon fibers carrying a polymer having polar groups and groups reactive with a matrix resin in a state adhering to the surfaces. The above carbon fibers can be produced by heating carbon fibers which carry (1) a monomer having both a polar group and a group reactive with a matrix resin or (2) both a monomer having a polar group and a monomer having a group reactive with a matrix resin in a state adhering to the surfaces to polymerize the monomer(s). The carbon fibers carrying the polymer adhering to the surfaces thereof little cause fluffing or breaking in the higher processing even when drawn through guide bars or rolls, and can give carbon fiber reinforced composite materials excellent in flexural characteristics and compression characteristics by virtue of the excellent bonding of the carbon fibers to a matrix resin.
