The system has a server connected to a network and a number of combination machines, each for performing a first type of process in cooperation with the network if connected to the network and for performing a process of a second type without cooperating with the network. Each combination machine, when required to perform a process of the first type, transmits an electronic document required to perform a process of the first type over the network to the server and requests the server to perform the process on the document.
