[Class 8 (i)] A propelled vacuum cleaner is provided with a converter attachment 17, 17<a> for a hose carrying a dusting tool which is inserted in an opening in the cleaner with a longitudinal movement combined with a rocking movement. The mouth of the opening is widened and guides 20, 20b, and a guide roller 21 about which the converter rocks, are provided in its mouth. A pivoted latch 24 in the converter holds it in position. Insertion of the converter opens a flap valve 19 which normally closes communication with the fan ; the end of the converter is curved and in its final position encircles the fan shaft considerably reducing the suction through the floor nozzle. The converter bears against a link 26<a> acting through a link 26 on the cranked shaft carrying the floor wheels to lift the floor nozzle and the agitator 9 from the floor. |
