PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a water-absorbing resin of high quality by preventing that mechanical external force is applied to the water-containing gel-like crosslinked polymer beyond necessary quantity at the time of crushing of the water-containing gel-like crosslinked polymer, so as to well and efficiently crush the polymer. SOLUTION: In the production of a water absorbable resin, in a process for continuously crushing a water-containing gel-like crosslinked polymer by the shearing action of a fixed blade and a rotary blade, a surfactant is added to the water-containing gel-like crosslinked polymer before crushing or at the time of crushing. In this case, the surfactant is at least one of polypropylene glycol and a polyethylene/polypropylene glycol block copolymer 11. The addition amt. of the surfactant is set to 0.001-10 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. water-containing gel-like crosslinked polymer. |
