<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately search an event recorded in a record medium and a blank part of the record medium. SOLUTION: The position of a tape for starting search is discriminated when a program PA(O) is searched. A detecting area is set from the tape position and the recording position of the program PA(O). In the detecting area, the tape is rewound/reproduced at a speed capable of detecting a control signal and an index signal from the end side of the tape. The program PA(0) is searched by detecting the index signal. The program is also searched by detecting the position on which the control signal runs out. At the time of searching a blank part, the tape is fast forwarded/reproduced from the head side of the tape. The position, on which either a part having no control signal or the index signal is first detected, is made to be the position of the blank part.</p> |
