PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator for an air bag giving the least possible shock to an occupant in the initial stage of operation and then rapidly increasing gas pressure so as to positively protect the occupant. SOLUTION: A single ignition means actuated by impact, and gas generating agents 6 ignited by the ignition means to burn and generate combustion gas are accommodated in a housing 3 with a gas exhaust port to constitute a gas generator for an air bag. The ignition means is constituted comprising transfer change 5 for igniting the gas generating agents 6 to burn. A first passage 34 where combustion gas generated by combustion of the transfer change 5 passes without passing through a gas generating agent storage part, and a second passage 35 where combustion gas of the gas generating agents 6 burned by the combustion gas of the transfer change 5 passes, are formed in the housing 3. |
