PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the scanning device of simple constitution which can protect a laser light source unit against dirt at the time of transportation and storage. SOLUTION: The optical scanning device is equipped with a laser light source unit 2, a polygon scanner, a 1st cylindrical lens, an fθlens, and a 2nd cylinder lens in an optical box 1, and the top is covered with an optical cover. Then a laser projection part 11 is engaged with a block body 13 of the optical box 1 and fitted with a shutter 16 atop. When the shutter is open, the optical cover 8 and a main body cover can not be engaged and with the shutter closed, the optical cover and main body cover can be engaged for the 1st time. Namely, the optical scanning device can be mounted on the main body.
