PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an initial load as much as possible in secondary clashing when a steering column is supported on a car body by the bracket of a bending type. SOLUTION: In a steering column constructed in such a manner that the lower part of a jacket tube 3 for lower and upper shafts having resin connected parts and contracted in an axial direction is supported on a car body by a lower bracket, a center part is supported by a distance bracket 27 and a bolt 22 penetrating the distance bracket 27 is inserted and fixed in a hole provided in an upper bracket supported on the car body, the hole of the distance bracket 27 penetrated by the bolt 22 is formed to be a long circular hole 28 having a specified length, the edge of the long circular hole 28 in the rear side of the car body is arranged nearer to a column axis C than the hole edge in the front side of the same, the entire long circular hole 28 is inclined from a line 33 orthogonal to the column axis C, and the bolt 22 is usually positioned inside the edge of the long circular hole 28 in the rear side of the car body. |
