Grate bar for a combustion grate, and method for cooling the same

Air is supplied by inlet pipes into a duct system (5) arranged in the grid bars (1) and is then guided after running through the duct system out through discharge pipes (9) into the air supply chamber underneath the grid and remote from the combustion side. Here the air flows outside round the grid bars from below and then through openings into the combustion chamber. The air supply and discharge pipes have controlled valves.
