PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with high display quality and a high contrast ratio, without giving an impression of a rough surface. SOLUTION: A luminance of an area where spacers are arranged is controlled within a range not exceeding a two-fold luminance of an area where spacers are not placed at the time of displaying in black (dark) state by making electric charge amount on the spacer surfaces to 0 or very small, when a dispersion density of the spacers is 100-60O pieces/mm<2> and the spacer diameter is 2-6μm. Therefore, as the spacers 18 to maintain a gap between an electrode substrate 3 and an opposed substrate 4 to be constant, such spacers are used as are acrylate resin plated with gold on the surface, having a 50Ω.m specific resistance of the surface and a 6μm spherical diameter. Moreover, spacers may be dispersed by using a spacer dispersing device having spacer transfer paths made of a same material as a surface material of the spacers.
