The fuel vapor vent assembly comprises a body having an entry passage adapted to be open to liquid fuel and fuel vapor and a vapor exit passage adapted to be connected to a fuel vapor storage device and an insert mounted in the body having a normally generally vertically oriented orifice. The orifice has an entrance and an exit elevated above the entrance. The insert further has a basin extending about the exit of the orifice, and the body has a cavity co-operating with the basin to define an expansive chamber above the exit and connected to the vapor exit passage and adapted to trap liquid fuel from fuel vapor passing under pressure through the orifice before the liquid fuel can reach the vapor exit passage.
