<p>A programmable apparatus is provided that performs real time observation of signals associated with operation of a graphics controller (140). The apparatus includes a command interface that receives event-monitoring instructions and an observation module (160) that is coupled to resources (144, 150, 152, 154, 156, 158) of the graphics controller.
