<p>A rolling element bearing comprises an outer ring (1) and an inner ring (2) each provided with a raceway facing the other ring and defining a bearing space accommodating rolling elements (5) which are in rolling contact with the raceways, lands (6) bordering the raceway of at least the outer ring, and at least one disc element (8), such as a seal or shield, connected to the outer ring (1) and extending towards the inner ring (2). The disc element (8) has at least one drainage hole (9) which is located radially inwardly with respect to the land (6) bordering the disc element (8), for expelling excess lubricant grease (10) from the bearing space under the influence of centrifugal forces upon rotation of the outer ring (1), and for maintaining a defined amount of grease (10) in the bearing space.</p> |
