OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

An optical recording medium which is prevented from undergoing the deterioration of organic coloring matter and has an improved durability and a high reliability. Specifically, an optical disk (1) produced by forming on a substrate (2) a recording layer (3) mainly comprising an organic coloring matter and then a reflective layer (4) comprising either a metal selected from among Cu, Ag and Au or an alloy containing at least one of the above metals, laying an ultraviolet-curing material having an organic acid content of 200 wt.ppm or less on the reflective layer (4), and curing the same, thus forming a protective layer (5). A preferable example of the coloring matter is cyanine and a preferable example of the reflective layer is Cu, Ag, or an alloy containing at least one of them.
