PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently decompose plastics into hydrogen gas. SOLUTION: This is a gasification process by allowing plastics to react with water at a temperature over 200 deg.C. A compound that liberates a halogen on the reaction is used as a reaction catalyst. As a halogen compound to be used as the catalyst in this process, a chlorine-containing plastic, hydrochloric acid, hydrogen bromide, sodium fluoride, sodium chloride and other halides, are cited. |
