PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a halogen-free flame-retardant resin compsn. which is satisfactory in both flame retardance and impact resistance by incorporating a phosphorus flame retardant into a styrene resin compsn. (A) which is prepd. by polymerizing anα,β-unsatd. carboxylic acid alkyl ester in the presence of a polymer mixture comprising a rubber-reinforced resin (A1) and a polymer (A2) formed from a monomer such as an arom. vinyl monomer. SOLUTION: Polymer Al is prepd. by polymerizing a monomer such as an arom. vinyl monomer (e.g. styrene) in the presence of a rubbery polymer (e.g. polybutadiene). Polymer A2 is prepd. by polymerizing a monomer such as an arom. vinyl monomer. Polymer A is prepd. by polymerizing 0. 05-4 pts.wt.α,β- unsatd. carboxylic acid alkyl ester (e.g. butyl acrylate) in the presence of 100 pts.wt. polymer mixture comprising 15-55 wt.% polymer A1 and 45-85 wt.% polymer A2. 100 pts.wt. polymer A is compounded with 0.05-20 pts.wt. phosphorus flame retardant (e.g. trimethyl phosphate).
