PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To seal a through hole through which a pipe passes, using a simple constitution even if a pressure difference is large. SOLUTION: Plural steps of ground packing 26 are placed around the outer periphery of a pipe 21. The gland packing 26 is pressed radially inwards by a tube 24 via a gland 30. The tube 24 presses the gland packing 26 against the outer peripheral surface of the pipe 21 by means of the pressure of tightening gas supplied by way of a tightening gas hole 31. The tube 24 and the gland packing 26 which are arranged in a number of steps are held by a ring spacer 30 and an outer cylinder 25. By adjusting pressure within the tube 24, the pressure of the gland packing 26 making sliding contact with the outer peripheral surface of the pipe 21 can be adjusted easily, so that sealing performance can easily be enhanced using simple constitution. |
