PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet discriminating device which can discriminate a different-number ticket. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a character sensor which reads character strings as an image out of more tan one character area of a paper sheet having the specific character strings recorded in more than one character area, a character recognition part 108 which recognizes the character strings respectively on the basis of image data obtained by the character sensor, and a character decision part 109 which determined the identity of the character strings recognized by the character recognition part. It is preferable that the character decision part 109 determines whether the character strings recognized by the character recognition part and recorded in the character areas are character strings where identical characters are arrayed in the same order. |
