PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent fluctuation of an electromotive force value even if a sensor element is left in a dew formation environment or in a high humidity environment for a long time without heating and to reduce a time required for stabilizing the electromotive force from a start of operation by containing oxide of a rare earth metal element in a working electrode layer. SOLUTION: In a gas sensor element, a working electrode layer 1 is formed on one face of a solid electrolyte layer 2. The working electrode layer 1 is formed when gold power, an auxiliary electrode material and rare earth metal oxide, which serve as electron conductive materials, are mixed and kneaded with terpineol, in which 5% by weight of ethylcellulose is dissolved, into paste and the paste is burnt on one face of the solid electrolyte layer. On the opposite face, a reference electrode layer 3 is formed, and on the reference electrode layer 3, a ceramic plate 4 is connected by means of an adhesive 5. In addition, on the surface opposite to the face for the reference electrode layer 3, a heater 6, which receives electricity supply from a power source 7, is formed. From the working electrode layer 1 and the reference electrode layer 3, lead wires are pulled out so as to be connected to the voltmeter 8, in which electromotive force is measured. |
