PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain aβzeolite exhibiting excellent deterioration resistance without spoiling essential characteristics of zeolite being high activity and high selectivity in comparison with conventional zeolite in alkylation reaction of arom. hydrocarbons. SOLUTION: Aβzeolite catalyst having Al ions out of the zeolite crystal lattice and pref., aβzeolite catalyst wherein the aluminum index (V) of Al ions existing out of the zeolite crystal lattice is 1<=V<=3 and the amt. of the Al ions existing out of the zeolite crystal lattice is at least 0.15 mmol per zeolite dry wt. and the amt. of the Al ions to the total amt. of protons and the Al ions (Al ion ratio) is at least 0.4 by molar ratio in relation to protons bonded to the zeolite crystal lattice, is provided.
