The detection monitors instantaneous road conditions by measuring a parameter that can indicate presence or absence of slippery road conditions. This information is recorded to record the change in conditions over time, and a value produced from this which is compared to a threshold value. The result of the comparison decides whether or not the current conditions indicate a slippery surface.
