A chain entanglement crosslinked polymer that can be manufactured by a rapid rate polymerization process comprising the step of: a) dispersing a monomer and a free radical initiator in water to form an aqueous dispersion; and b) forming a radical flux by heating the dispersion to a temperature greater than the ten-hour half-life temperature of the initiator to thereby produce a polymer containing chain entanglement crosslinking; and that can be utilized as proppants, as ball bearings, as lubriglide monolayers, and for drilling mud applications, and a method of manufacturing a chain entanglement crosslinked polymer with enhanced rigidity at high radical flux. |
