Fertiliser spreading method using twin disc spreader

During spreading at the edges of fields the rotation speed of the spreader disc nearest the field boundary is reduced in relation to the adjacent disc, and the point at which fertiliser is dispensed onto the slower disc is shifted outwards, independent of the adjacent disc rotation speed. Fertiliser is spread using two or more variable rotation speed spreader discs (3, 4) that throw fertiliser out in the opposite direction to that travelled by the spreader, such that the areas (15, 16) over which the fertiliser is spread overlap. The size of these areas is varied by altering the distance between adjacent spreader discs, whilst the shapes of these areas can be changed by altering disc rotation speed and shifting the point at which fertiliser is dispensed onto the spreader discs.
