<p>An apparatus and a method for electrical switching, particularly for connection and disconnection of high effects, are based on the use of a rapid mechanical switching device (5). A second switching device (6, 8) is connected in parallel with the first-mentioned switching device, said second switching device comprising a radiation source (8) and a radiation sensitive switching element (6) arranged to form an electrically highly conducting current path past the first switching device (5) when it is irradiated by the radiation source and to adopt an electrically insulating state at absence of irradiation.</p> |
