The steering device has an absolute position sensor, the reading from which is stored directly before the out position of an ignition switch for comparison with a value of the absolute position sensor in the in position of the ignition switch. A drive motor, on the basis of deviation between the two values, is operated to turn the output shaft (20) so that the position ratio between the input shaft (10) and the output shaft is brought into conformity.
