The damping piston divides the operating cylinder (13) into two half-chambers filled with damping fluid. A bypass (5) parallel with the valves of the damping piston contains at least one valve (4) reacting to pressure. The bypass is controlled by a control body (1) which can reach an end position in which the bypass is closed, by corresponding valve seatings (2,3) on the valve in its two directions of movement. The end part of the control body has a larger-diameter part (7) than the remainder.
