Fees due from transactions in electronic commerce are processed by building a transaction information data base (54) with transaction objects based on events in each transaction (100). After retrieving general and specific fee rules (50, 52), a determining step detects first if the general fee rule applies to the information in a transaction event object (102, 104) and then if a specific fee rule applies to the information in the transaction object. Then, if the fee rule (50, 52) applies a calculation step (105) calculates the fee based in the fee rule (50, 52) and the information in the transaction object. A fee object for a recipient entity is created (108) based in the fee calculated by the calculating step (105) and is stored in a payment database (56). An accumulating step (130) sums the payments for a recipient entity from the fee objects in the payment database (56).
|
