A dye donor element for thermal dye transfer comprises a support having on one die, in order, a subbing layer and a dye layer. The subbing layer comprises a glycidyl-containing polymer or copolymer having the following recurring monomer units: R1 = H, methyl; L = linking group; D = 1-6C alkylene group; x = 10-100 wt.%. Also claimed are a process for forming a dye transfer image and a thermal dye transfer assemblage.
