FIELD: petrochemistry and hydrogenation catalysts. SUBSTANCE: catalyst including platinum on aluminum carrier is distinguished by containing iridium with following component contents: platinum 0.01-0.05 wt %, iridium 0.01-0.05 wt %, and aluminum, the balance. Catalyst preparation procedure includes immersing, for 90-150 min, preliminarily oxidized aluminum metal carrier into aqueous solution, containing 0.05-0.01 mole/g potassium hydroxide and ammonia platinum complex [Pt(NH3)4]Cl2, placed in closed space at 170-210 C. Novelty consists in that concentration of mentioned platinum-ammonia complex ranges from to M and iridium complex [Ir(NH3)5Cl]Cl2 is added in concentration M, while carrier is immersed into solution at ratio of loose volume of granulated aluminum to solution volume from 1: 15 to 1:11.
