The gearbox, having a fifth forward gear idler pinion (22) and a claw coupling (18) with a ring (20) on its primary shaft (12) and a fixed forward gear pinion (40) on its secondary shaft (27), has a reverse gear idler pinion (34) and claw coupling (38) on its secondary shaft. The rings (20, 36) of the primary and secondary shaft claw couplings are designed to move together axially, one of the rings having a collar (39) which fits into a groove (41) in the other, and are actuated by the common gearbox fork.
