PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the leakage of a developer and to reduce the occurrence of the flocculation and solidification of the developer by sealing only a remote region from a latent image carrier with a seal member, on the side surface of a developing roller arranged by bringing it in opposite contact with a supplying roller for supplying the developer. SOLUTION: Four divided areas 14A-14D are assumed on the side surface of a developing roller 10 divided by a first straight line L1 that links the center point O2 of the rotation of the developing roller 10 and the center point O1 of the rotation of a photoreceptor 80 and a second straight line L2 that orthogonally crosses the first straight line L1 and passes through the center point O2 of the rotation. Then, a seal member is arranged in a position without participating in the divided areas 14A and 14B located on the side of the photoreceptor 80 within the limits of the second straight line L2 in the divided areas 14A-14D. Therefore, the seal member participates only in a part of the divided areas 14C and 14D to seal the developer. Consequently, the infiltration and back flow of the developer, its aggregate, etc., are safely prevented and the generation of a defect in an image can be prevented as well. |
