Self-fixing jaw inserts for a carpenter's screw clamp

A screw clamp has a yoke formed between arms (2,3) and a rail (1). The upper arm (3) carries a fixed jaw plate (12), and a movable jaw plate (5) is attached to the end of the operating screw (4) which is in threaded engagement with the lower arm (2). Coupon inserts of flexible plastic material (7,8) each have slotted holes by which they slidingly engage the rail (1) and extend outwards between the fixed, upper and movable, lower jaw plates. The work to be clamped is placed between the jaw plates and sandwiched between the plastic coupon inserts.
