The invention relates to a base station for a radiocommunications system, containing at least one carrier-related transceiver device and at least one central unit for controlling the base station. Said transceiver device and said central unit each contain at least one interface device, these interface devices being connected by means of at least one individual line in a point-to-point connection for transmitting traffic data. Point-to-point connections with individual lines for each transceiver device are therefore used instead of a bus structure. These individual lines do not need to be of the same length. Traffic data can therefore be transmitted between the central unit and the transceiver device much more cost-effectively, since the data rate can also be increased according to the length of the individual line. A logical bus structure is mapped onto physical point-to-point connections. Traffic data, o & m data and synchronisation data are then transmitted via this bus structure. The base station is suitable for use in radiocommunications systems with GSM, TDMA, CDMA or other radio interfaces.
